LIVE WISELY
“Gaining More Godly Wisdom”
Pastor Doug Heisel –March 23, 2025
Luke 2:52 – And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
Ephesians 5:15-17 – So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
What to Learn About Godly Wisdom
1. Godly wisdom is actively PURSUING you.
Proverbs 1:20-23 – Wisdom shouts in the streets. She cries out in the public square. She calls to the crowds along the main street, to those gathered in front of the city gate: “How long, you simpletons, will you insist on being simpleminded? How long will you mockers relish your mocking? How long will you fools hate knowledge? Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.”
2. Godly wisdom is more VALUABLE than anything the world can offer you.
Proverbs 3:13-18 – Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.
3. Godly wisdom is AVAILABLE in abundance.
James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:6-8 – But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
4. The benefits of God’s wisdom are in direct proportion to my commitment to God’s WORD and WAYS.
Walk with the WISE.
Proverbs 13:20 — Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Get in the WORD, and let it get into YOU.
Matthew 7:24 — (Jesus said) “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.
Develop a healthy FEAR OF GOD.
Proverbs 9:10 — The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
