“Of Greatest Cost”
Pastor Ben Johnson – June 26, 2022

Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT) — Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Acts 11:26b (NIV) — The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

Who God IS, matters MORE
than who
I AM, or who I am NOT.

Colossians 1:15-17 (NLT) — Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see - kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together.

“If you want to be my disciple, you must...”

  1. Realize heart change leads to LIFE CHANGE.

Luke 14:25-26 (NLT) — “If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else - your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters - yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.

  2. RECOGNIZE that God is pursuing you and say “YES” to him!

Luke 14:27 (NLT) — And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.

"When Christ calls a man, he calls him to follow him to a cross and die.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  3. Redirect your life from SELFISHNESS to SELFLESSNESS.

Luke 14:33-35 (NLT) — So, you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own. “Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? Flavorless salt is good neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown away. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!”

The problem may be that
YOU have NEVER made Jesus LORD.
